About Strong Dynamics
Strong Dynamics is about leadership, resilience and performance — and how to get back in the game.
I’ve been a coach for a long time. Hockey is part of my history, and the player in the Strong Dynamics logo isn’t something I invented for this publication. He has been on my hats and jackets for years.
But the lessons I learned through coaching never belonged only to hockey.
Athletes, coaches, executives, business leaders and teams often face many of the same challenges: performing under pressure, recovering from mistakes, communicating when the stakes are high, making difficult decisions, building confidence without becoming complacent and finding another gear when things aren’t going according to plan.
That’s where Strong Dynamics lives.
The person behind the performance
I’ve spent decades working across coaching, healthcare, human behavior, mindset and performance. Those worlds may look very different from one another, but I kept seeing the same thing: performance rarely exists in isolation.
Preparation matters. Health matters. Confidence matters. Relationships matter. Leadership matters. So does understanding what is happening around you, not just what is happening inside you.
Sometimes the problem isn’t a lack of ability. Sometimes it is pressure, fear, fatigue, poor communication, the wrong environment or simply getting knocked down hard enough that you have to decide whether you are willing to get back up.
That decision interests me.
Leadership when it gets difficult
Leadership is easy to admire when everything is going well. I’m more interested in what happens when the game changes, the plan falls apart, criticism gets louder or the people around you need something more than a motivational speech.
What does a coach do then? What does a leader do? What does a team do?
And what do you do when the person who needs coaching is you?
Those are Strong Dynamics questions.
Who is Strong Dynamics for?
This publication is for athletes in any sport, coaches, executives, business leaders, teams and people trying to become stronger at what they do and how they respond when things get difficult.
I’ll write about leadership, resilience, confidence, communication, team dynamics, performance under pressure and the lessons I’ve learned from decades of coaching people through challenges.
Some stories will come from the rink. Some from business. Some from healthcare. Some from people in the public eye. And some will come from ordinary moments when somebody gets knocked down and has to decide what happens next.
Because the setting changes, but people are still people.
The game changes. The dynamics don’t.
Get back in the game.
